CURRENT PROJECTS
MAC is pleased to partner with two archaeological projects: the Coriglia Excavation Project and the Sentinum City Archaeological Research Project, both based in Italy. Stay tuned for more future partnerships!

CORIGLIA EXCAVATION PROJECT
The Coriglia Excavation Project investigates the ancient site of Coriglia, home to Etruscan, Roman, late antique, and Medieval habitation. Features such as kilns, bath complexes, and monumental water management facilities suggest the site was part of a thriving network of extra-urban sites dedicated to agriculture and which served travelers along key ancient routes.

SENTINUM CITY ARCHAEOLOGICAL RESEARCH PROJECT (SCARP)
SCARP explores the Roman city known as Sentinum. Located in the modern town of Sassoferrato, SCARP seeks to better understand Roman urbanism in the region of Marche.

OUR WORK
Discovering the Past Through Archaeology.

Scholarship in Action
Community Engagement
Involving local communities in archaeological initiatives is a vital aspect of our work. We collaborate closely with the communities where we excavate to enrich our understanding of local history but also sharing knowledge, resources, and skills. We aim to foster a sense of ownership and pride in cultural heritage, enabling sustainable practices that preserve these valuable sites for future generations.
MAC contributes to the active research agendas of its affiliate projects. We are guided by critical research questions to continue learning more about the past. Our discoveries each season mean students can watch and contribute to scholarship in action!
Hands-On Training
Our affiliate field schools work to train the next generation of archaeologists, thinkers, creatives, and global citizens. By learning the theories and methods of archaeology through hands-on training, students are equipped to pursue careers in the field, learn to work as part of a team, and enjoy first-hand, tactile experiences of ancient artifacts.
Global Connections
Our projects bring together students, staff, faculty, and professional archaeologists from all over the globe, creating new international communities and opportunities for collaboration.
